The combination of Carol’s specialized knowledge in sensory processing and Joye’s expertise in perceptual-motor and visual development led to the creation of The In-Sync Child.

Joye Newman, M.A.

Joye Newman earned her master’s degree in Education and Special Education, with a specialization in perceptual-motor development, from The George Washington University. By integrating studies in behavioral optometry, occupational therapy, and psychology into her academic work, she developed a unique approach to movement-based therapy.

Joye founded and directed Kids Moving Company (KMC). She worked with many children who had limited opportunities for movement—or who were actually discouraged from moving—both at home and at school. KMC provided these children with a space for movement, play, and thinking in a developmentally appropriate environment. After 30 years, Joye closed the studio to focus on individual assessments and parent consultation, helping children build greater self-confidence and develop stronger skills in everything they do.
