Phonological awareness
Children who got high phonological awareness scores before learning to read and write had later better performance when learning to write. As a result, children’s phonological awareness criterion scores at preschool assessment seems to be largely a strong predictor of their reading and writing performance at school age (Goswami, 1994, Manolitsis, 2000a).
