Denise Dougherty, MA, CCC-SLP

Denise Dougherty is a highly respected Speech-Language Pathologist with extensive experience in the rehabilitation of children and adults in both private practice and hospital settings. She runs a private clinic and has served as a faculty member at U.S. universities, including York College of Pennsylvania and Wesley College.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from Marywood University and her master’s degree from Saint Louis University, and has completed postgraduate coursework at Johns Hopkins University as well as doctoral-level seminars at the University of Phoenix. She is a certified VitalStim® instructor, specializing in the use of electrical stimulation for swallowing rehabilitation.

She has served as a member and conference chair of the AAPPSPA (American Academy of Private Practice in Speech Pathology and Audiology) and represented the organization as a liaison to ASHA’s Health Care and Economics Committee. In addition, she served as Secretary of CORSPAN (Coalition of Independent Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists).

Denise Dougherty has received numerous ASHA ACE Awards in recognition of her dedication to continuing professional education, and in 2007 she was honored with the AAPPSPA “Honors Award” in recognition of her contributions to the profession.
